We stand in full solidarity with the Palestinian people and unequivocally condemn the Israeli government’s ongoing genocide and deliberate starvation of civilians in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. The nearly 1 Million population of Gaza city is ordered to move to already severely overcrowded sites without the necessary support services areas or risk of daily bombardment, left with no safe options for refuge [1]. Famine in Gaza has been officially confirmed [2]. There are 2,456 Palestinians killed and almost 18 000 injured while trying to access aid, out of 64,656 fatalities and 163,503 injuries since 7 October 2023 (according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza) [1]. 

 

Dignity, Safety and Access to food and water are Human Rights. The access to humanitarian aid is a Human Right. The systematic bombing of homes, hospitals, schools, and places of worship, alongside the blockade of food, water, medicine, and electricity, constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and basic human rights. The use of starvation as a weapon of war is a crime against humanity [4]. The systematic genocide being committed by Israel against Palestinians [5] is an atrocity. The international community must act immediately to hold those responsible to account, ensure the delivery of life-saving aid, and bring an end to the occupation and apartheid policies that have fueled decades of suffering.

 

PSR joins the UN and other humanitarian organisations [3] in the call for:

• Immediate ceasefire 

• Protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure

• Full and continuous access to humanitarian aid, based on international humanitarian law, and immediate lift of the Israeli government’s blockade on aid and commercial supplies

• Protection of national and international aid workers, journalists, medics, rescue teams, frontline workers

• Safe access of the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza [6]
